Rob has worked within the substance misuse field for the last 8 years. After gaining an MSc in Addictive Behaviours from the University of Liverpool in 2010, Rob started work as a young person’s worker in Swansea. Since then, Rob has held multiple service manager posts in South Wales and is currently a training coordinator, delivering workshops and sessions on all things drug-related.
Rob currently chairs the Welsh Enhanced Harm Reduction Centre’s steering group, which is a multi-disciplinary forum that is looking at the potential need, and gathering support, in relation to the establishment of Drug Consumption Rooms in Wales. In 2017, Rob completed a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowship, whereby he visited Canada, the USA and parts of Europe, learning about the policies and procedures of setting up Drug Consumptions Rooms, as well as their operational processes. Rob has a deep passion for harm reduction which allows for a high level of pragmatism and compassion. UK drug policy reform is never far from Rob’s thoughts and is a keen advocate for change that would benefit not only those who are affected by substance misuse directly, but also local communities and the wider population.
