Emily has been researching drug policy-related issues since 2008 when she began working as a research associate at Transform Drug Policy Foundation where she contributed to a number of publications including ‘After the War on Drugs: Blueprint for Regulation’. She also spent a year as a research assistant at the Global Drug Policy Observatory where she was the lead author for two reports on developments in cannabis policy in the United States. Emily’s PhD analysed how drugs have been constructed as a threat to humankind and the nation state, and how these threat constructions have limited national and international drug policy. She teaches an undergraduate unit on ‘Drugs and Society’ in the School of Policy Studies at the University of Bristol.
